Before I started working with Shannon, I was feeling stuck, like I was going through the same motions day after day & overwhelmed by things that I couldn't control. I've always considered myself a positive, "look on the bright side of things" kind of person, but after a rather tough year, I was feeling pretty down & out & I knew that if I didn't take steps to change things that I could control, I'd probably end up with a lot of the same in the coming year. I knew what to do to make changes, but I also knew that without someone to help me be accountable, I would fall into the same old patterns as in the past & not much would happen. So I jumped right in with Shannon's coaching for three months. On our first zoom meeting, I had some ideas of what I wanted to work on: physical change, eating better & improving my overall health. As a nurse, I "know" how to do those things, so I didn't need coaching on much of that. What I figured out soon after, was what I really needed to focus on was my mindset. I had been so focused on helping others, that I had stopped "dreaming" about what I wanted in my life.
I absolutely loved working with Shannon! She gave me small ideas of what I could work on each week, things that I probably wouldn't have thought of or considered on my own & I did the work. I looked forward to each of our zoom meetings, because I usually had several things to tell her that I discovered each week & she'd celebrate with me or if I had some frustrations/setbacks, she'd challenge me by asking me "Have you considered trying this or doing that?" She wanted me to dig deep & think about what I wanted/needed. I used to write poetry when I was young & it had been years since I had done that. So I started writing some poetry & just other types of writing & that just opened up so many different things for me, like what was most important to me, what brings me joy & things that I really want to focus on because I found a part of me that I had lost in the middle of the happenings of life. The best thing that I learned from being coached by Shannon was that when you do the mental/mindset work, the outer things become much easier to work on or achieve because you've already done the hardest work first. It all falls into place because the inner/outer work is all connected. I lost some weight (mentally & physically), I'm heading in the right direction healthwise & I'm looking forward to retiring soon & enjoying having time to take care of me (with a long list of things I want to do or try). I would highly recommend Shannon as a health coach to anyone, but especially to someone who is feeling a little (or a lot) stuck in life or with what they're wanting to achieve. She coaches in a way that helps you look at things from a different perspective, yet gently encourages you to put in the work to make changes & before you know it, you're doing it. She helps you be able to say "I've got this. I'm worth it!!"
I loved working with Shannon so much I plan on working with her again later this year!!
